Where Children Come First

Did you know?

Our play areas are 50% larger than the minimum legislative requirements.

Why choose C&K?

We have been at the forefront of early childhood education and care for over a century.

  • Our staff are dedicated professionals – teachers and directors are university qualified in early childhood education
  • C&K is the only statewide early childhood association whose early learning program is of a standard high enough to be recognised and funded by the Department, Training and the Arts (DETA)
  • We are monitored through an affiliation process linked to DETA funding
  • Our standards far exceed the minimum requirements outlined in the Child Care Regulation 2003
  • High staff/child ratio – appropriate staff/child ratios are maintained at all times throughout the day, including staff lunch and tea breaks. This exceeds regulations, as set by the Child Care Act 2002
  • Our play areas are at least 50% larger than the minimum legislative requirements. This allows your child to explore, discover and play more freely in a natural outdoor environment
  • All C&K services offer Australia's first collaborative early childhood curriculum, Building waterfalls, developed in consultation with DETA and the Queensland Studies Authority.
  • C&K childcare centres do not exceed their licensed capacity at any time. This requirement exceeds the Child Care Regulation 2003
  • To provide safe, clean and healthy environments we follow best practice based on the latest recommendations from the National Health and Medical Research Council
  • C&K actively encourages your involvement in your child’s learning through:
    • an open door policy – we encourage visits at any time
    • a roster system
    • home visits
    • input and evaluation via an annual parent survey
    • parent participation and feedback (i.e. management committee/parent advisory group)
  • All staff hold current blue cards
  • All staff are first aid qualified
  • Fee structures set to ensure equity of access, not generate commercial profits
