2017 Queensland Early Education and Care Conference

                                Friday 16 to Saturday 17 June 2017

This is a must on the calendar of every early childhood educator - a thought-provoking conference bringing together the best talent from around Australia and internationally to take the stage and share their common passion - working with children and giving them the best possible start in education and in life.

The 2017 Queensland Early Education & Care Conference is the largest conference of its type attracting more than 700 early childhood professionals. Educators, sector representatives, resource and education partners will come together to share the most up-to-date knowledge, thinking and practice. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Sparking Curiosity, Celebrating Children and Exploring Leadership’ and the keynote speakers and workshops will be delivered based on the following three streams:

Sparking Curiosity
Sparking Curiosity shines a light on STEM practices. STEM touches every aspect of our lives, from our smartphones to the technologies that enable us to explore the world around us and outer space. It also drives innovation in our fast-changing global landscape. To succeed in this environment, our children need a strong foundation in STEM. This strand explores the following areas:

Effective use of integrating the following areas in the classroom:

  • Technology
  • Engineering
  • Mathematics

Supporting Children
This strand celebrates and explores the diversity and complexity of supporting children in contemporary Australia and the implications for early education and care pedagogy, quality and practice. Supporting children focuses on the following areas:

  • Children’s self-regulation
  • Working with families
  • Relationships
  • Assessments
  • Language and Literacy
  • Infants and Toddlers

Exploring Leadership
The leadership stream focuses on striving to create positive and meaningful change in everyday practice and developing effective educational policy and processes.

This strand explores the following areas:

  • Leadership and Service Management
  • Educational Leadership vs Leadership
  • Coaching and Mentoring
  • Having Difficult Discussions with Adults
  • Customer Experience
  • Reconciliation Action Plans

2016 Queensland Early Education and Care Conference

This year’s conference was held across three days, from Friday 24 June to Sunday 26 June.

Over 600 delegates attended Queensland’s largest early childhood education conference.

Delegates in attendance included, educators, sector representatives, resource and education partners.

The central theme for the conference was Our Children, Our Communities, Our Future.

Delegates explored these themes through practical workshops and inspiring speakers. Topics of discussion included, anti-bias education, inclusiveness, bringing community together, creating lasting connections with family and the benefits of free/nature play.
