Welcome to C&K Carseldine

At C&K Carseldine Community Childcare Centre, we welcome children from 6 weeks of age to 5 years old and provide care and early learning five days a week from 6:30am to 6:30pm.

As a home away from home, our environment provides a safe, secure and supported space for your child. Our dedicated, friendly and qualified staff nurture play-based learning, fostering a life-long love of learning. Our families love our large natural outdoor area, where we encourage children to explore, discover, play and engage in nature.

We have a wide range of cultural and linguistic background with our families and staff. This provides us the opportunity to incorporate these cultures and languages throughout the centre. Our approach to inclusion and diversity ensures that every child, family and staff member feels safe, welcomed and important.

Our centre also provides an evidenced-based innovative intergenerational program in partnership with Rockpool Residential Aged Care, creating enriching experiences for the children and the residents of Rockpool.

Infant and Toddler Approach

At C&K we are exploring new approaches for the educators that care for and educate our littlest people at C&K childcare centres. The Infant and Toddler approach, which we have developed, is all about being in the moment with your child. Our philosophy for this age group is to “slow down” and be in the moment with your child to allow them the opportunity to learn and discover at their own pace. We are focused on spending one-on-one time with babies and toddlers and developing deep and trusting relationships with each individual child.

Child-Led Learning

No two days are the same at C&K Carseldine. Each day’s learning is driven by the interests and ideas of the children. The spacious and natural environments within our centre are thoughtfully planned and well resourced, with opportunities to meet the needs and interests of all children who attend. This is achieved through the provision of combined indoor and outdoor play opportunities throughout the day. Play offers children many opportunities to develop friendships, explore, solve problems, help others, imagine, create, and extend on their interests.

Community Spirit

Community spirit is important to us at C&K Carseldine. We foster strong ties to the local community and encourage parent involvement in the daily operations of the centre. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us.

Intergenerational Program

C&K Carseldine is leading the way with innovative programs, including the new evidenced-based, intergenerational program pilot being run with the residents of Rockpool Residential Aged Care. The program provides opportunities for the children and aged-care residents to interact, creating meaningful connections and fostering social and emotional development for both generations.

5 Star, Green Star Rated Centre

C&K Carseldine is the first childcare centre in Queensland to achieve a 5 Star, Green Star rating, certified by the Green Building Council. The building design incorporated new construction techniques to improve energy and water use and includes solar panels, water tanks and a recycling program to reduce waste and carbon emissions. This provides a beautiful opportunity to engage with the children on the importance of sustainability, conservation practices, and protecting the environment.

C&K has developed a Infant and Toddler Approach which informs the way we care for and educate our babies and toddlers. Our philosophy for this age is to “slow down” and be in the moment with your child as they learn and explore the world. We focus on developing a deep and trusting relationship with each child.

All C&K childcare centres deliver C&K's Quality Kindergarten Program. Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children who are turning 4 by June 30 in the year before they attend school. C&K’s kindy programs are government-approved and led by experienced and university qualified teachers. Our program supports children’s curiosity, creativity, problem solving, resilience and real-world knowledge and skills.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, learning is a collaborative process between teachers, educators, children and families. At C&K we believe children are powerful learners, active citizens, thinkers and theorisers - this is at the heart of our early childhood curriculum. We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations and nurture healthy minds and bodies. Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child’s learning and care journey is shared with you via  conversations with your child’s educators, through written documentation and through StoryPark (an app and website).

Little site visitors at C&K Carseldine

The children at C&K Carseldine Community Childcare Centre have been exploring beyond the fence and visiting their new centre, being built less than 300m from their current centre.

After some regular visits where they excitedly inspected the progress, the children were inspired by what they saw at the site to draw and design their ideal playground. Their designs include swings, cubby houses, slides, flowers, water, castles, rainbows and so much more! The builders have some wonderful designs to work with. This supports our children’s agency, giving them an opportunity to make choices and decisions, and impacting their connection to their new centre in a positive way.

The children have also been talking about their future interactions with the residents at Rockpool Residential Aged Care facility, located next door to the new site. They will soon begin to write them letters, invitations, draw pictures and spend time playing with them too.

The children are developing a sense of belonging and connection to the community. By exploring their soon-to-be new environment, they are becoming confident and involved learners. The opportunity to shape their future learning environment and program, is a very special and unforgettable experience for our children.

Construction is well underway and the new centre is due to open in mid-2023. It will be the first C&K childcare centre with a 5 Star, Green Star rating and one of only a select few Early Childhood Education and Care centres to be on the pathway to Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) certification.

Enrol online or book a time to meet our wonderful team. We would love to welcome you and your child to our community!

September 2022

We’re excited to announce that construction of our new childcare centre has begun at Carseldine!

Our current C&K Carseldine Community Childcare Centre is relocating less than 300m from our current site to a brand-new facility within the Carseldine Village precinct.

Carseldine Village is leading the way to a greener future by setting sustainability benchmarks via new building and construction techniques, improving energy and water systems, creating novel applications for the latest green technologies and reducing waste and carbon emissions.

The new centre will be the first C&K childcare centre with a 5 Star, Green Star rating and one of only a select few ECEC centres to be on the pathway to Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) certification.
C&K is currently working on delivering an evidenced-based intergenerational program, promoting strong and positive outcomes for children that align with the Early Years Learning Framework outcomes and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines. C&K is currently engaging in community and centre-based consultation to ensure a contextual and meaningful intergenerational program is delivered for the children of C&K Carseldine and Rockpool Aged Care Facility residents. The program will be facilitated by qualified early childhood educators and Rockpool staff. Residents taking part in this program will hold blue cards to ensure continuous engagement in best practice while delivering high-quality programs for children.

The new centre is expected to open in mid-2023. If you would like to enrol your child, please join our waitlist!

  • Toddlers: 18 months to 2 years old
  • Pre-kindy: 2 to 3 years old
  • Kindy: 3 to 5 years old

What subsidies are available?

The Australian Government helps eligible families with the cost of childcare via the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). For more information, please visit Services Australia.

The Queensland Government also provides Free Kindy, which is a funding initiative that enables families with eligible-age children (turning 4 by 30 June in the year they attend kindergarten) to access 15 hours of free kindergarten per week. The subsidy is provided for 40 weeks/600 hours per calendar year.

The CCS is applied to your kindergarten fees before the Free Kindy subsidy and is paid directly to the centre. The Free Kindy subsidy is then applied to reduce the out-of-pocket costs for attending an approved kindergarten program.

Families will be required to pay for the hours a child is enrolled over and above the 15 hours per week subsidised by Free Kindy. The CCS will apply to any remaining hours, depending on families’ entitlements. The 40 weeks are claimed from the start of the kindergarten program, or your enrolment. After claiming 40 weeks of Free Kindy, eligible families can continue to claim the CCS to reduce their fee.

All eligible-aged children can receive the Free Kindy subsidy, regardless of CCS eligibility.

How can flexible bookings help?

C&K offers flexible booking options, designed to help eligible families access and maximise the CCS, and minimise out-of-pocket fees. Our 9 and 10 hours sessions work in with your schedule and start once your child is signed in, not a set start and finish time.
