New Child Care Subsidy
From 2 July 2018, Australia has a New Child Care Subsidy. Under this new system, the existing Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR) has been replaced by one new payment - the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). This subsidy is paid directly to childcare services to assist families with their childcare fees.
The amount of Child Care Subsidy that families will receive is based on three factors:

Have you set up a myGov account?
To claim Child Care Subsidy, families will need to sign in through a myGov account. If you don’t have a myGov account, you can create one at my.gov.au and then link your Centrelink online account.
Complete your Child Care Subsidy Assessment
You can do this by going to my.gov.au and signing in to access your Centrelink account. Select ‘Complete your Child Care Subsidy Assessment’ from the menu.
You will need to confirm:
- Combined family income estimate for the financial year
- Activity level of you and your partner - approximate hours of work, study, training or volunteering per fortnight
- Details about your child’s care arrangements
- Confirm your child’s enrolment.
Families can provide their Child Care Subsidy information to Centrelink verbally if they cannot provide it online. Further information can be found at www.humanservices.gov.au/childcaresubsidy
What happens next?
Once you have completed this process and clicked ‘I accept and submit’, Centrelink will assess your family’s Child Care Subsidy eligibility and entitlement and will notify you of the outcome.
