At the C&K East Street Community Kindergarten & Preschool, we believe that children need time to be children.
Our highest priority is what is best for children - not private shareholders. All profits from our services are reinvested in children and the community. We live by our defining statement: Where children come first, by ensuring our children receive the highest quality education and care possible.
International studies consistently confirm the four essential elements needed for a child's optimal emotional, physical and intellectual growth and development. These are:
- a nurturing, stimulating, caring and fun-filled environment
- university qualified early childhood trained teachers
- play-based learning
- involvement of parents and / or carers
These studies validate our centre’s long-held, core belief that a play-based early years education and care environment, supported by parents and the greater community, is crucial for a child's best possible development.
The kindergarten is fully affiliated with the Creche and Kindergarten Association (C&K).

Qualified teachers
Our kindergartens employ teachers who have a university degree in child development and education. Early years education is highly specialised. It requires teachers trained in observation of the fine interplay of motor, intellectual and emotional processes at work during play. They can interpret play and assess skills and learning to extend and stimulate each child towards further development. Our staff know how to create the magical learning environment that enables children to use their innate skills and motivation to learn.
Excellent staff ratios
A high staff ratio allows teachers the time to develop a close relationship with each child to ensure they are happy and thriving. A high staff ratio allows each child one-on-one time with their teacher.
Learning through play
Our kindergarten uses a play-based curriculum. Research has shown play is the best "exercise for the brain" because it provides the most appropriate stimulus for brain development.
Children in all cultures are pre-programmed to learn about the world through play. It is the natural way for them to discover, create and learn to become critical, independent thinkers while experiencing all the joy and delights of childhood. With this in mind, our centre is designed to provide plenty of room to play, create and explore safely.
Parent partnerships
Research consistently shows that parental involvement maximises the effectiveness of early child development programs. We see parents and teachers/carers as partners and encourage parents to visit their child's centre through an "open door" policy. Parents have an open invitation to visit, stay and be involved in their child's activities.
