Welcome

Our early childhood educators acknowledge that their work with children, families, staff and communities is driven by a desire and passion to support children in their learning and development. Our educators and management committee together, strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and respected. We aim to provide an environment where there is a strong sense of belonging and therefore, we place great importance in building relationships that are open, collaborative, trusting and supportive.

When children come into our care, we ensure they feel a strong connection to the educators thus instilling a feeling of trust, security and safety. We value each individual and family as being unique with different culture, knowledge, skills and ideas about life that are explored and responded to.We put emphasis on creating an environment that is safe, unique and inspiring, therefore encouraging children to question, experiment, hypothesise, create, imagine and wonder.

We want children to feel supported and valued so they are empowered to question and contribute their thoughts and ideas with their peers, educators and families. We are committed to providing an enriching, meaningful and engaging program that supports children to grow and learn, develop a love for learning and inspires them to achieve their goals.

We see play as being a powerful tool for learning. Children are inquisitive and active and hands on learners. Play is the foundation of our inquiry approach towards learning.

As educators, we will provide engaging spaces, time, quality resources and support to enhance their learning. We also respect that children come to our kindergarten equipped with knowledge, ideas, culture, abilities and interests that form the foundation of our emergent program.

Our program here at the Jandowae Kindergarten is guided by the Queensland Kindergarten learning guidelines as we see this curriculum as the most appropriate to guide the learning and development of your Queensland children. We base our teaching approaches on the documented theories of Vygotsky (1978), Bandura (1977) and Maslow (1943). These theorists underpin our teaching strategies within this service.

Together, we are accepting of all, have open minds and unite for the prosperity of our Jandowae children.

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. When places are available, 3-year old children may be able to attend.

C&K's kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children to be curious, capable, and collaborative learners.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, for us learning is partnership between teachers, children, parents, and communities.

Our curriculum approach, Listening and Learning Together, aligns with both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

It continues the longstanding traditions and philosophical commitments of C&K to our children, families and communities. Read more about the history of C&K.

We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations, nurture healthy minds and bodies, as children explore, experiment, play and learn.

Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child's learning journey is shared with you via conversations with your child's educators and through written documentation in your centre, and in some centres through StoryPark (an app and website).
