Welcome
C&K Paddington Community Kindergarten respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our service is placed. C&K Paddington Community Kindergarten also pays our respects to all Elders past, present and emerging
Give your child a great start to their education and become a part of our Kindergarten community.
C&K helps to create a lifelong love of learning and supports’ your child’s transition into school. We provide a curriculum/play-based, pre-prep program, lead by 4 year qualified teachers. C&K Paddington has beautiful, large landscaped gardens and inspiring indoor learning environments. Parents are an integral part of our community and are always welcome to contribute to the educational program.
Children are active collaborators and contributors to their own learning and to that of others. We value being open and sensitive to new possibilities and perspectives, and encourage the children to be kind, caring and respectful of each other as they learn how to live, play and work together harmoniously.
Our young children are capable thinkers, investigators and inquirers. They come to kindergarten with a range of prior experiences and understanding of the world them. They present with differing abilities and interest, languages, cultural heritage and traditions.
We celebrate our diversity and embrace our differences, for we are all special in our own individual way.
Additional Needs Assistants are employed as required in accordance with C&K’s policy of equity and opportunity for all children.
Centre Philosophy
We value each child who travels with us a while, as a unique individual - one who comes to us with many talents, competencies and endless possibilities. Working together with parents as our critical partners, we will listen to, nurture, respect and guide each child to grow in understanding and responsibility to be an active, participating citizen in life.
We strongly believe that ... "Authentic experiences generate real understandings".
C & K Paddington Community Kindergarten, as a branch service of the C&K Association Limited, acts in accordance with all policies and procedures and our educators maintain professional development and growth by engaging in constant critical reflection and embracing innovation and new research to attain best practice in the provision of education and care in the early childhood education field. Our curriculum decision making is guided by the Listening and Learning Together C&K Curriculum Approach, the Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline which are all play based, emergent and co-constructed. Embracing diversity, these curricula give emphasis to encouraging every child to express and transform their ideas and understandings in play through the many languages of children. Our educators make curriculum decisions that uphold all children’s rights including the right to have their identities, knowledge, strengths, ideas, culture, abilities and interests acknowledged and valued in the context of their families and communities
Our children have opportunities to respond to the beauty and order of the natural world and in an environment that is ordered, safe and aesthetically appealing. We provide children with experiences to enable them to act responsibly and sustainably to preserve the environment for the future. They are encouraged to represent their own world in order to learn about and understand their world better. In the process of representation, as they actively play and interact with others, engage with a rich variety of materials and ideas, children’s language and social abilities are fostered.
Children are offered opportunities for encounters and discussions of all kinds, including health, social, intellectual, language and emotional and are encouraged to think flexibly and creatively to solve problems and seek their own solutions to conflicts which support the development of the qualities of resilience. They are invited to test themselves physically and emotionally. Physically, through play and opportunities to explore new movements and challenges; emotionally, through being in a supported environment where they engage respectfully with each other. We provide myriad opportunities to cultivate deep respect for, and knowledge of the cultural diversity of our own community and the broader community in our educational program, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.
Most significantly, children learn best when they have available to them knowledgeable and informed adults, capable of engaging them intellectually as well as emotionally and who are in turn capable of being engaged intellectually and emotionally by them.
Child-Led Learning
No two days are the same at C&K Paddington Community Kindergarten. Our teaching team tailors each day’s learning, taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious and natural environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and we allocate plenty of time for outdoor play and discovery.
Community Spirit
Community spirit is important to us at C&K Paddington Community Kindergarten. We foster strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us and taking the children on excursions out into the local community.
