Become an Early Childhood Teacher (ECT)

Change your career…step into early childhood education with a qualification from C&K College

From 1 January 2022 until the end of 2023, a person who holds ALL of the following will be recognised as equivalent to an early childhood teacher:

  • a primary or secondary teaching qualification
  • teacher registration in Australia (called ‘accreditation’ in New South Wales)
  • an ACECQA approved certificate III level (or higher) early childhood education and care qualification.

This combination of qualifications will continue to be recognised under this provision if obtained before the end of 2023.

Number of Units:

  • 18 Units (total number of units to study is dependent on RPL)
  • All units are calculated at a fixed rate
  • RPL costs are the same as regular unit costs
  • 120 hours of Vocational Placement in a regulated early childhood setting for birth to five year old children.

Formal Entry Requirements:

  • Proof of registration as Primary or Secondary Teacher in Queensland
  • Other Requirements:
    • Positive exemption card/Blue Card
    • Computer with internet Access, Word Processing software, PDF reader, scanner or mobile with camera capabilities.

Funding Information

Higher Level Skills

The Higher Level Skills program provides a government subsidy to support eligible individuals to access subsidised training in selected certificate IV or above qualifications, and priority skill sets. Read more

Fee for Service

Fees for self-funded students. The Fee for Service is applied when a student is not eligible for subsidies, government loans or where no subsidies are available.
