Kindergarten program details
At C&K Queen Street Community Kindergarten we have two kindy groups to choose from. All groups ensure children receive the same number of hours of education across the year. The groups have a maximum of 22 children and are led by an experienced and qualified early childhood teacher. We operate during QLD school terms and are closed for school holidays, public holidays and some pupil free days.
- Group 1A: Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays, 8:25am to 2:25pm
- Group 1B: Thursday, Friday and alternate Wednesdays, 8:25am to 2:25pm
About our kindy
Welcome to C&K Queen Street, where your child will feel safe, make friends and belong. We have an open natural learning environment where the children explore and investigate, and extend their learning. Our teachers and educators focus on nurturing your child's curiosity, building their resilience and developing their confidence - all through the joy of learning through play.
Location
C&K Queen Street is located on Queen Street, Caloundra, a short 200 metre walk from Caloundra State School.
Clay Project
At C&K Queen Street we create our own clay for the children’s daily use from a backyard supply. We break down the original product, mix it with water to form a slurry, sieve and dry out the clay to a useable consistency. The children take part in this process throughout the year and use the clay daily in their play and artwork. So much learning comes from this - connection to the natural world, fine motor skills, exploration and expression, wellbeing and self-regulation.
Bush Kindy
In 2023 we began our journey towards embedding Bush Kindy into our weekly program. We take the children out onto the bush space on the grounds of the Caloundra State School ovals, where they can explore and engage with nature. We understand the benefits of children being in nature for their social, emotional and physical wellbeing.
Child-led learning
No two days are the same at C&K Queen Street. Our teaching team tailors each day’s learning, taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious and natural environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and we allocate plenty of time for outdoors play and discovery.
Community spirit
Community spirit is important to us at C&K Queen Street. We foster strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us and taking the children on excursions out into the local community.
