About our kindy
Welcome to Karalee Kindergarten! Karalee Kindergarten began in 1992, working out of the Community Hall next door as families in the community worked together to get our kindy its own home. In March 1998, we moved into our current building and have spent the following years adding to our beautiful kindergarten. Our Kindy believes strongly in the uniqueness of each family and each child. We encourage parents to work together with teachers to ensure that the kindergarten program provides opportunities for children to extend their existing knowledge and skills and development attributes such as perseverance, resilience and curiosity that are critical to learning. Children are encouraged to be active participants in our program. We value their ideas, and enable them to take ownership of their learning. We interact purposely with the children, offering support and guidance when required. We also aim to help children to expand their thinking, challenge themselves and extend their interest by introducing them to other interests, and, by encouraging them to explore other alternatives and possibilities. Children will have the opportunity to make choices, develop their own ideas and work at their own pace. Teachers will be responsive to their ideas and initiatives, allowing time and space for exploration and research. They will establish warm and affectionate bonds and attachments with children, by being available, accessible and approachable.
C&K Affiliated Centre
As an affiliated centre of C&K, C&K Karalee receives support from C&K as the Central Governing Body but operates as an independent incorporated association, managed by a volunteer management committee. Centres affiliated with C&K receive comprehensive support in governance including managing kindergarten and inclusion funding, training for committees and educators, advice, and support regarding inclusion, use of the C&K brand, curriculum approach and resource materials.
Child-Led Learning
No two days are the same at C&K Karalee. Our teaching team tailor each day’s learning taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and time spent discovering the natural environment outdoors.
Community Spirit
Community spirit is important to us at C&K Karalee. We foster our strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent input and involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten and programming decisions. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us
