Welcome

Welcome to C&K Bundaberg Community Kindergarten.

The first five years of a child's life are vital in helping form who they will be as adults. C&K knows and understands this very well having played a part in the lives of more than a million children over the past century in Queensland. C&K Bundaberg Community Kindergarten has been making a positive impact on children's lives since 1971.

We are a high quality provider of early education and care and we are thrilled that you are considering C&K Bundaberg Community Kindergarten for your child.

We are located at 55A Electra Street, Bundaberg. We are in the centre of Bundaberg, however families are surprised and pleased with the quiet, peaceful surroundings we enjoy every day.

Our service has stimulating indoor and outdoor environments that offer a range of opportunities for children to learn through play and include various forms of technology to stimulate and support learning.

Queensland Government Approved Program

Our government approved program is centered around a living and learning community that values children as competent and capable individuals. This play-based curriculum helps children to socialise, build confidence, and develop communication and early literacy and numeracy skills to ensure your child is school ready.

Child-Led Learning

No two days are the same at C&K Bundaberg Community Kindergarten. Our teaching team tailor each day's learning taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and time spent discovering the natural environment outdoors.

Community Spirit

Community spirit is essential to us at C&K Bundaberg Community Kindergarten. Our service is a C&K affiliated service, this means we are managed by a volunteer management committee fostering strong ties and connections with our families in the operations of the kindergarten. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us.

What year should my child attend kindy?

This table shows the year the Queensland government recommends your child attends kindergarten. Children aged 4 years old by June 30 in the year they attend kindy are also called ‘Eligible age’ or ‘Target age’.

Year born Kindy year
1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020 2024
1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021 2025
1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022 2026
1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023 2027

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. When places are available, 3-year old children may be able to attend.

C&K's kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children to be curious, capable, and collaborative learners.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, for us learning is partnership between teachers, children, parents, and communities.

Our curriculum approach, Listening and Learning Together, aligns with both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

It continues the longstanding traditions and philosophical commitments of C&K to our children, families and communities. Read more about the history of C&K.

We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations, nurture healthy minds and bodies, as children explore, experiment, play and learn.

Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child's learning journey is shared with you via conversations with your child's educators and through written documentation in your centre, and in some centres through StoryPark (an app and website).

Am I eligible for the Kindy Plus or Family Tax Benefit subsidy?

Subsidies are funded by the Queensland and Australian governments.  All children of eligible age (turning at least 4 by June 30 in the year they attend kindy) are eligible for a subsidy of $1,500 per year.

Please visit the Kindy savings website and select sessional kindy for Step 1 to check your eligibility for the Kindy Plus and Family Tax Benefit subsidy.

You will need to show proof of your eligibility when you enrol, which will differ depending on the subsidy you are eligible for.

What if I want my 3 year old to go to kindergarten?

Priority is given to eligible-aged children but if there are places available, we are happy to have 3 year old children at kindy and attend for 2 years.  The subsidies do not apply for 3 year old children, and the non-eligible enrolment kindergarten fee will apply.  Please contact us on 07 4151 2227 for more information on fees for 3 year olds and to discuss your child and your family’s situation.

I have more questions.  Who can I talk to?

As a not-for-profit, we aim to keep fees affordable for families and have developed a fee system to maximise family access to available subsidies.  Please visit our Kindergarten Fees Frequently Asked Questions page for more information.

If you have any other questions, please contact us on 07 4151 2227.
