Welcome

A friendly hello from Bundara Kindergarten! We are a not-for-profit community Kindergarten nestled among the gumtrees in the suburb of Frenchville in Rockhampton. We first opened our doors in 1972 and have been welcoming families ever since. We'd like our families to view Bundara Kindergarten as an extension of their home and we actively encourage families to be involved with all our events and activities. On kindergarten days at Bundara, your child will have the opportunity to explore, experiment, observe, imitate and discuss. Bundara offers ample off street parking, and arrivals/departures are an easy process as we are not attached to a primary school. We are however located in a close proximity to many of Rockhampton's leading primary schools. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming your family soon.

Play-based Curriculum

Through play, children can develop social and cognitive skills, mature emotionally and gain the self-confidence required to engage in new experiences and environments. The C&K curriculum "Listening and Learning Together" is a play-based curriculum developed from observations and knowledge of each child, therefore creating a program that is sensitive to each child's needs and interests.

Our Heritage
The name "Bundara" is an Indigenous word that translates to "place of many trees". We acknowledge that our kindergarten is situated on the traditional lands of the Darumbal people and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging

Our Vision, Mission and Values
Our Vision - Childhood Fulfilment
Our Mission - Where Children Come First
Our Values - Play Fairly, Play Imaginatively, Play together, Play Responsibly, Play Best, Play Nicely

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. When places are available, 3-year old children may be able to attend.

C&K's kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children to be curious, capable, and collaborative learners.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, for us learning is partnership between teachers, children, parents, and communities.

Our curriculum approach, Listening and Learning Together, aligns with both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

It continues the longstanding traditions and philosophical commitments of C&K to our children, families and communities. Read more about the history of C&K.

We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations, nurture healthy minds and bodies, as children explore, experiment, play and learn.

Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child's learning journey is shared with you via conversations with your child's educators and through written documentation in your centre, and in some centres through StoryPark (an app and website).
