We would love for your family to become part of our family!
Welcome to Sherwood Community Kindergarten. Established in 1958, Sherwood Community Kindergarten has been providing high quality early education for more than 60 years.

At Sherwood Community Kindergarten we are passionate about educating and caring for our pre-prep aged children through play that encourages, supports and challenges children with fun, friendship and learning. All within an environment where each child feels valued, safe and supported.

Located next to Hives Park, Sherwood, our kindergarten has been designed to provide generous spaces for children to play, inside and outside, in our large natural play area.

Sherwood Kindergarten is a not-for-profit community kindergarten and is guided by a management committee made up of parent volunteers. Families make our kindergarten special, and we always encourage families to be involved in our Kindy program on a daily basis.

Why choose Sherwood Community Kindergarten?
When your child attends Sherwood Community Kindergarten, you'll experience what a unique and special environment it really is. There are many reasons to choose Sherwood Kindy:

  • Continuity of groups – your child is with the same children and same staff every time. You will meet the same parents every day.
Continuity of staff – staff turnover is extremely low.
  • Some staff members have attended the centre as parents. We are teaching children of past pupils regularly.
  • We are a not-for-profit, community kindergarten – all money is reinvested in the centre.
  • Community involvement – families are always welcome and are involved in their child’s education on a daily basis.
  • Large, natural outdoor classroom (the leafy playground).
  • Quality, educationally-based equipment, incorporating the natural world wherever possible.
  • Highly qualified staff – all teachers are university qualified in Early Childhood Education and are registered with the Queensland College of Teachers. All assistants have Cert III. All staff have Senior First Aid/ CPR, Anaphylaxis & Asthma Management training and are holders of Blue Cards/Exemption cards.
  • Community connections – we are affiliated with the Creche and Kindergarten Association of Qld (C&K) and have been operating for over 60 years.
  • Best practice educational curriculum – the Early Years Learning Framework (national curriculum), Building Waterfalls II and the QLD Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines.
