Formal Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this unit. However limited places are available. Places are prioritised for Nominated Supervisors and Responsible persons in charge, at C&K Branch and Affiliated services.


Other Requirements

You will need to apply for a Blue Card (working with children check) or exemption card.
You must have access to a computer with internet, MS Office, PDF reader software and a scanner or mobile with camera capabilities. Completion of a language Literacy and Numeracy assessment, or evidence of a previous qualification at Certificate III or higher (eg Diploma or Degree)

Curriculum

This qualification is a requirement for all people providing education and care to children in Queensland. The course covers the following areas:

  • Identify children and young people at risk
  • Report indications of possible risk of harm
  • Apply ethical practices in work with children and young people

Assessment Methods

Assessment will include quizzes, reflective tasks, and/or projects, Scenarios/simulations. You can complete the training in your own time at your own pace.

Course Overview

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to support and protect children and young people who are at risk of harm. This work occurs within legislative and policy frameworks and carries a duty of care responsibility. This unit applies to workers in a range of job roles providing services to children and young people including in community services and health contexts.

Completing this unit meets the Queensland State Government Child Protection Training Protocols outlined for Nominated Supervisors and ResponsiblePerson’s in-charge
