Welcome to C&K Deception Bay North Community Kindergarten.

We are co-located on the Deception Bay North State School grounds. We currently operate two classes a week and provide universal access to early years education to forty-eight children.

We run a Queensland Government Kindergarten Approved Program and received an “Exceeding the National Quality Standards” in our Department of Education, Training and Employment Audit.

We operate a five day fortnight program for each class and align with school hours as well as school holidays.

Our Early Years philosophy is based on a social and cultural perspective that values the whole individual, their  support networks, society, culture and prior knowledge. It is a malleable and holistic philosophy, open to change and development in accordance with the needs of our children and community. Children are independent thinkers, explorers, investigators and inquirers. Their ideas are celebrated and valued and form the basis of our program. This enables children and their community to feel empowered and have a sense of ownership and responsibility over their education.

At C&K Deception Bay North Community Kindergarten we believe:

  • that all children should have access to a high quality early years education program, free from discrimination and other social and economic barriers.
  • in an inclusive framework and environment for all families.
  • children should learn through play, in an aesthetically pleasing, warm and homely environment.

What year should my child attend kindy?

This table shows the year the Queensland government recommends your child attends kindergarten. Children aged 4 years old by June 30 in the year they attend kindy are also called ‘Eligible age’ or ‘Target age’.

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. When places are available, 3-year old children may be able to attend.

C&K's kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children to be curious, capable, and collaborative learners.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, for us learning is partnership between teachers, children, parents, and communities. 

Our curriculum approach, Listening and Learning Together, aligns with both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations, nurture healthy minds and bodies, as children explore, experiment, play and learn.

Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child's learning journey is shared with you via conversations with your child's educators and through written documentation in your centre, and in some centres through StoryPark (an app and website).

Kindergarten Fees

The following table outlines the daily fees for eligible-aged children (children turning at least 4 by June 30 of the year attending kindy).

If you are eligible for Kindy Plus, your child will attend kindy for FREE.

If you are eligible for the Family Tax Benefit, you will receive a subsidy of $3,544 per year.

If you are not eligible for Kindy Plus or Family Tax Benefit, you will receive a subsidy of $1,500 per year.

Only one centre can claim the relevant funding subsidy for your child.  If your child is enrolled in another kindergarten program (for example, in a childcare centre or another kindergarten) while they are enrolled at our centre, you need to choose which centre receives the funding.

*Non-eligible enrolments include children born on or after 1 July 2019 (they will not turn four by 30 June 2023), children who are enrolled in two kindergarten groups at the same centre and are therefore ineligible for the Queensland Kindergarten Funding for the second group, and children claiming the Queensland Kindergarten Funding at another centre.

**If you are eligible for the Kindy Plus subsidy your enrolment fee will be waived.

Am I eligible for the Kindy Plus or Family Tax Benefit subsidy?

Subsidies are funded by the Queensland and Australian governments.  All children of eligible age (turning at least 4 by June 30 in the year they attend kindy) are eligible for a subsidy of $1,500 per year.

Please visit the Kindy savings website and select sessional kindy for Step 1 to check your eligibility for the Kindy Plus and Family Tax Benefit subsidy.

You will need to show proof of your eligibility when you enrol, which will differ depending on the subsidy you are eligible for.

What if I want my 3 year old to go to kindergarten?

Priority is given to eligible-aged children but if there are places available, we are happy to have 3 year old children at kindy and attend for 2 years.  The subsidies do not apply for 3 year old children, and the non-eligible enrolment kindergarten fee will apply.  Please contact us on 07 3293 4662 for more information on fees for 3 year olds and to discuss your child and your family’s situation.
