C&K Edmonton Community Kindergarten

Welcome

Welcome to Edmonton Community Kindergarten.

We have been offering quality education and care for pre-prep children over the last 25 years and place great emphasis on creating a warm and caring atmosphere of respect and dignity for children and families. We want your child’s experience to be a positive and fulfilling one.

We know children are competent and capable learners, who can make their own choices, problem solve and explore. Our role is to support this strengths-based approach to achieve the best outcomes for each child.

For our families, we work together in partnerships to support and communicate with one another. We value the knowledge and expertise parents have of their child and wide diversity of experiences parents can contribute to the learning program.

For our community, connections with and respect for the natural world and all its peoples are essential for children being and becoming active contributors to their communities.

Our Mission Statement is to provide a safe, welcoming, educational environment that reflects the interests, needs and abilities of the children and responds to the needs of the families in the community.

Great Start to Kindergarten Pilot Program 2021

C&K has been successful in securing funding from the Queensland Department of Education for the Great Start to Kindergarten Pilot Program. This pilot provides funding for community kindergartens selected by the Department to offer no-cost or low-cost three-year-old programs in terms 3 and 4 in 2021.

C&K Edmonton Community Kindergarten is offering no-cost Playgroup for three-year-olds program for three-year-olds in terms 3 and 4, 2021.

Please contact the National Translating and Interpreting Service to support families with enrolments, inclusion, and medical needs forms. This service provides clarity to help remove language barriers that impact the child's needs.

Playgroup for three-year-olds

Playgroup at C&K Edmonton Community Kindergarten is a safe and engaging space for children and their families and will support families to continue to play an active role in children's learning. Parents are invited to stay and play for the first hour of Kindy sessions.

The playgroup program enables social connection, access to play-based learning experiences, and pathways to community support. In a welcoming and understanding space, the focus is on family with an emphasis on the learning and developmental needs of children and supporting parents and caregivers to assist their child's learning.

After attending playgroup at C&K Edmonton Community Kindergarten, three-year-old children will be supported in their transition to the kindergarten program in 2022.

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. When places are available, 3-year old children may be able to attend.

C&K's kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children to be curious, capable, and collaborative learners.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, for us learning is partnership between teachers, children, parents, and communities.

Our curriculum approach, Listening and Learning Together, aligns with both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

It continues the longstanding traditions and philosophical commitments of C&K to our children, families and communities. Read more about the history of C&K.

We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations, nurture healthy minds and bodies, as children explore, experiment, play and learn.

Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child's learning journey is shared with you via conversations with your child's educators and through written documentation in your centre, and in some centres through StoryPark (an app and website).
