About our kindy
Welcome to C&K Mooloolah, where your child will feel safe, make friends and belong. Located on Gubbi Gubbi Country, we have a Nature Kindy program once per week. Children attend a morning in a natural environment where the goal is for the children to connect and engage with nature. They have opportunities to explore, make discoveries, be curious, show wonder and be creative and imaginative. During the cooler months, we incorporate fire into our Nature Kindy program. Children are taught how to be safe around fire, helping with a risk assessment, creating a safe space, and checking the weather for the day. We experimented with billy cans, a flat BBQ plate, toast holders, bamboo sticks and camp ovens. We also learnt Dadirri (deep listening). First Nations people practise Dadirri a quiet, inner, still awareness of nature around us. We would sit quietly and listen to the fire crackling and popping, feel the warmth and watch the flames dance and change colour.
Child-Led Learning
No two days are the same at C&K Mooloolah. Our teaching team tailors each day’s learning, taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious and natural environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and we allocate plenty of time for outdoor play and discovery.
Community Spirit
Community spirit is important to us at C&K Mooloolah. We foster strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us and taking the children on excursions out into the local community.
