C&K Mossman Community Kindergarten is located on 9 Foxton Avenue (just before Foxton Bridge). Our centre has stimulating indoor and outdoor environments that offer a range of opportunities for children to learn through play.  We offer a play based program for 3-5 year olds, which helps to develop confident and competent learners and school readiness. We are situated in the heart of the rainforest with the creek and sugarcane literally on our doorstep. This location ensures that we are continually inspired by nature, which weaves naturally into our interests and learning program. Sustainability and caring for each other and our environment is something that flows through our community and is embedded in our teaching, learning, investigating and philosophy.

Feel free to call in and visit us.

Great Start to Kindergarten Pre-kindy Program

C&K has been successful in securing funding from the Queensland Department of Education for the Great Start to Kindergarten Pre-kindy Program. This program provides funding for community kindergartens selected by the Department to offer no-cost or low-cost three-year-old programs in terms 3 and 4 in 2022.

To be eligible for the funding, children need to have turned three by 30 June 2022.

C&K Mossman Community Kindergarten is offering no-cost Pre-kindy in a kindergarten program for three-year-olds in terms 3 and 4, 2022.

Please contact the National Translating and Interpreting Service to support families with enrolments, inclusion, and medical needs forms. This service provides clarity to help remove language barriers that impact the child's needs.

Pre-kindy in a kindergarten program

Three-year-old children will attend the existing high-quality community kindergarten program alongside four-year-olds, which will complement and extend children's learning at home. It also provides learning opportunities that are not always readily available in a home context – including building relationships with teachers and learning to cooperate with peers in a group environment.

Attending this program in terms 3 and 4, 2022 will provide children with opportunities to learn alongside older children and provide an individualised and developmentally appropriate approach.

Program operating hours:

  • Monday and Tuesday, 8:30am - 4:12pm
  • Thursday and Friday, 8:30am - 4:12pm

Child-Led Learning

No two days are the same at C&K Mossman. Our teaching team tailors each day’s learning, taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious and natural environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, science, nature, literature and sustainability. We allocate plenty of time for outdoor play, investigation and discovery.

Community Spirit

Community spirit is important to us at C&K Mossman. We foster strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten. We partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us.

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. When places are available, 3-year old children may be able to attend.

C&K's kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children to be curious, capable, and collaborative learners.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, for us learning is partnership between teachers, children, parents, and communities.

Our curriculum approach, Listening and Learning Together, aligns with both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

It continues the longstanding traditions and philosophical commitments of C&K to our children, families and communities. Read more about the history of C&K.

We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations, nurture healthy minds and bodies, as children explore, experiment, play and learn.

Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child's learning journey is shared with you via conversations with your child's educators and through written documentation in your centre, and in some centres through StoryPark (an app and website).
