Deadly Kindy Gundoo Mirra

3.5 years - 5 years

Deadly Kindy Gundoo Mirra

Deadly Kindy Gundoo Mirra is a kindergarten for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kids. Our kindys promote community, family, play and culture. Our playground is an important part of our curriculum. Your children will have the benefit of beautiful playground and natural setting which has been designed to enhance children’s gross motor development. The children observe the lizards that wander into the yard. They learn about the bush tucker garden and participate in gardening experiences throughout the year. They use the seedpods from the trees to count and for craft. The playground has quiet areas for resting and relaxing and active areas for ball games, climbing, sand play, obstacle courses, swings and much more. We also have a yarning circle where the kids love to meet to tell stories and read books.

At Deadly Kindy Gundoo Mirra, we have two kindy groups to choose from. All groups ensure children receive the same number of hours of education across the year. The groups have a maximum of 20 children and are led by an experienced and qualified early childhood teacher. We operate during QLD school terms and are closed for school holidays, public holidays and some pupil free days.

As an affiliated centre of C&K, Deadly Kindy Gundoo Mirra receives support from C&K as the Central Governing Body but operates as an independent incorporated association managed by a volunteer management committee. Centres affiliated with C&K receive comprehensive support in governance, including managing kindergarten and inclusion funding, training for committees and educators, advice and support regarding inclusion, use of the C&K brand, curriculum approach and resource materials.

East Street Community Kindergarten & Preschool

Welcome to East Street Kindergarten. At the C&K East Street Community Kindergarten & Preschool, we believe that children need time to be children. Our highest priority is what is best for children - not private shareholders. All profits from our services are reinvested in children and the community. We live by our defining statement: Where children come first, by ensuring our children receive the highest quality education and care possible.

International studies consistently confirm the four essential elements needed for a child's optimal emotional, physical and intellectual growth and development. These are:

  • a nurturing, stimulating, caring and fun-filled environment
  • university qualified early childhood trained teachers
  • play-based learning
  • involvement of parents and / or carers

These studies validate our centre’s long-held, core belief that a play-based early years education and care environment, supported by parents and the greater community, is crucial for a child's best possible development.
