Welcome

Welcome to Tingalpa & District Kindergarten & Preschool.

Tingalpa & District Kindergarten & Preschool is a non-profit centre that has been part of the local community since 1968. Our centre is administered by a management committee elected from the parent body and is proud to be a C&K affiliated centre. This means that our centre has reached and maintains high standards in the areas of staff qualifications, safety, facilities and educational programs. Our service is rated overall at "Exceeding National Quality Standards". Tingalpa Kindy achieved an Exceeding rating in all 7 quality areas.

We have two pre-prep programs with 22 children in each group. A teacher and assistant work with each group.

We offer a safe, secure and fun environment for your child to play, grow and learn. At Tingalpa & District Kindergarten & Preschool we believe a positive and open relationship with families is vital in providing a positive experience for your child; therefore we will work together with families to provide an environment in which your child will feel comfortable and safe. We provide a place of learning and care where your child has access to active, play-based learning and developmentally appropriate resources. We have a strong emphasis on children engaging with the environment and being able to exercise choices which match their interests and capabilities.

We are positive your child will enjoy their time here with us and look forward to sharing time with you and your family as well. We offer an open invitation to families to play an active role in the centre and input to our programming.

Child-Led Learning

No two days are the same at Tingalpa & District Kindergarten & Preschool. Our teaching team tailor each day’s learning taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and time spent discovering the natural environment outdoors.

Community Spirit

The centre has always enjoyed and continues to encourage close communication between staff and parents both formally and informally. Parents are an integral part of life at our centre and have the opportunity of contributing in many ways, including assisting in the running of the centre, participating on roster days, or in contributing expertise or ideas.

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. When places are available, 3-year old children may be able to attend.

C&K's kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children to be curious, capable, and collaborative learners.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, for us learning is partnership between teachers, children, parents, and communities.

Our curriculum approach, Listening and Learning Together, aligns with both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

It continues the longstanding traditions and philosophical commitments of C&K to our children, families and communities. Read more about the history of C&K.

We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations, nurture healthy minds and bodies, as children explore, experiment, play and learn.

Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child's learning journey is shared with you via conversations with your child's educators and through written documentation in your centre, and in some centres through StoryPark (an app and website).
