Welcome to C&K Weir Community Kindergarten.

We are an 88 place purpose-built kindergarten situated on the beautiful grounds of Weir State School. Established in 2012, we cater to children between the ages of 3.5 and 5 years. Being on a school site allows us many opportunities to experience what school life is about through our transitions program. We also benefit from regular library visits and inclusion in school events such as sports day, NAIDOC celebrations and concerts.

Each of our two rooms are staffed with degree qualified Early Childhood Teachers and diploma trained assistants.

Accredited Forest and Bush Kindergarten

We're proudly accredited with Nature Play QLD, one of only 16 in Queensland for our nature program.

Our centre prides itself on bringing nature into both the indoor and outdoor spaces which include an abundance of native flora and fauna. We have a strong focus on providing loose and recyclable parts within our learning spaces and places. Our flexible program provides opportunities for children to move between the indoor and outdoor environments throughout their day.

Our regular “Beyond the Fence” excursions strengthen our commitment to both conservation and sustainability with a focus on discovering, understanding and protecting our world. At C&K Weir we believe that “If we want children to flourish, to become truly empowered, then let us allow them to love the earth before we ask them to save it.” - David Sobel.

Child-Led Learning

No two days are the same at C&K Weir Community Kindergarten. Our teaching team tailors each day’s learning, taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious and natural environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and we allocate plenty of time for outdoor play and discovery.

Community Spirit

Community spirit is important to us at C&K Weir Community Kindergarten. We foster strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us and taking the children on excursions out into the local community.

All C&K kindergartens feature our quality C&K kindergarten program.

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. If spaces are available, the program is also offered to 3-year olds. C&K’s kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children’s curiosity, creativity, and resilience.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, so we approach learning as a collaborative relationship between teachers, children and parents. At C&K we believe children are powerful learners, active citizens, thinkers and theorisers - this is at the heart of our early childhood curriculum. We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations and nurture healthy minds and bodies.

There will be a half-hour overlap between the core kindergarten program lead and the extended program lead educator each day. Educators will share highlights and continuing plans for the day.

The extended program continues children’s learning into the afternoon and is led by a diploma-qualified educator and supported by an assistant educator. The extended program team will also have access to an Early Childhood Teacher.

Your child’s learning journey is shared with you via  conversations with your child’s educators, through written documentation and through StoryPark (an app and website).

Kindergarten Fees

When reviewing our fee structure for the core kindy program you can choose fees subsidised by the Queensland Kindy Funding program or by the Child Care Subsidy (CCS).  Depending on your personal family circumstances one program may offer greater savings than the other.

The following table outlines the daily fees for eligible-aged children (children turning 4 by June 30 of the year attending kindy) under the Queensland Kindy Funding program:

Daily Fee (Queensland Kindy Funding Program)

Core kindy full kindergarten fee.

If you are eligible for Kindy Plus, your child will attend kindy for FREE.

If you are eligible for the Family Tax Benefit, you will receive a subsidy of $3,544 per year.

If you are not eligible for Kindy Plus or Family Tax Benefit, you will receive a subsidy of $1,500 per year.

Only one centre can claim the relevant funding subsidy for your child.  If your child is enrolled in another kindergarten program (for example, in a childcare centre or another kindergarten) while they are enrolled at our centre, you need to choose which centre receives the funding.

Alternatively, you can choose the fee structure below funded by the Child Care Subsidy.

Daily Fee (Child Care Subsidy)

Core kindy full kindergarten fee (no subsidy).

If you are eligible for Child Care Subsidy, your out-of-pocket daily fee will be reduced by your eligible CCS rate.

Depends on your Child Care Subsidy entitlements.
