Welcome to St Lucia Kindergarten. More information can be found on our main website, where you can also join our Waiting List http://www.stluciakindergarten.com.au/

We are located opposite Ironside State School and very close to the University of Queensland. Our service offers educational programs for children aged 3 to 5 and may have 22 children enrolled in each group.

At St Lucia Kindergarten, we believe that children learn best when they are engaged in active, child-led play.

Our teachers and educators provide varied opportunities for learning through an inviting, yet challenging, environment in our well-resourced classrooms and large natural outdoor areas.

Our key focus is building secure and respectful relationships with all children and families. We are proud to have such a wonderful diverse community and celebrate the many cultures and languages of our families.

Our families recommend St Lucia Kindergarten because we:
- offer 2, 3 or 5 day places with After Kindy Care until 5:30pm (Monday to Wednesday)
- are located next to Ironside State School
- have large natural outdoor playgrounds with beautiful gardens and trees
- include fantastic excursions and incursions in our program
- offer Nature Play Excursions in our local bush reserve
- hold regular social events for families
- are led by passionate and experienced educators

At St Lucia Kindergarten, we have four Kindy groups to choose from, so you can enrol your child in a group that best meets your family's needs.

As an affiliated centre of C&K, St Lucia Kindergarten receives support from C&K as the Central Governing Body, but operates as an independent incorporated association managed by a volunteer Parent Management Committee.

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children who are turning 4 by 30th June in the year before they attend school. Our Kindy program is government-approved and led by experienced and university qualified teachers. Our program supports children’s curiosity, creativity, problem solving, resilience and real-world knowledge and skills.

Our key values at St Lucia Kindergarten are Joy, Playfulness, Creativity, Empowerment, Respect and Empathy.

At St Lucia Kindergarten we believe in education for each child through play, so that every child’s individual needs, strengths and interests can be provided for, whilst fostering their emotional, cognitive, creative, and physical development.

We strive to provide a warm, home-like environment, filled with joy and spontaneity. We work collaboratively with children, families and the community to provide a caring, safe, inspiring environment where children feel a sense of belonging and are supported to play, create, explore, imagine, investigate and learn more about themselves, others and their world.

We use the Early Years Learning Framework v2.0 and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline within our program planning and documentation.

St Lucia Kindergarten is a not-for-profit and community managed organisation. As such, all of our fees go towards paying staff wages and training, teaching resources, building maintenance, and operational costs. Fees typically increase annually to meet the rising costs of service delivery.

Funded enrolments receive a significant “Free Kindy” Govt. subsidy to reduce fees, whereas fees for non-funded enrolments include a surcharge to cover the absence of funding.
