About The Centre
Eileen Fisher Memorial Kindergarten is a licensed early childhood centre affiliated with the Creche & Kindergarten Association of Queensland (C&K), located in Mount Isa. The centre is also registered with the Queensland Kindergarten Funding Scheme as a Kindergarten Program Provider (KPP).
The centre offers a 5 day fortnight kindergarten program. Each program runs from 8.30am to 2.50pm, with each group consisting of 22 children who attend Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays, or alternate Wednesdays, Thursday and Friday.
When children enter an early childhood setting, they bring with them a rich variety of cultural and social backgrounds and experiences. This Centre recognises the individuality of each child and family and observes a policy of acceptance, regardless of race, creed, gender, disability, class or culture. This centre actively promotes conservation and encourages children and families to protect the environment. Learning at Our Centre
An early childhood setting is created at the Centre so that each child who attends can find a safe and secure environment in which to develop their potential.
Enrolments are limited to 22 children in each group.
Learning Through Play
The play based curriculum at the Centre is guided by Listening and Learning Together: The C&K Curriculum Approach which reflects the pedagogy of the Federal Government The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline.
Together with parents / carers, we support a child’s interests, strengths and capabilities.
Together we can extend children’s understandings; their literacy and numeracy skills; their sense of wonder; their communication skills; their socio-emotional skills; their fine and gross motor skills; and their self-expression through art, dance and dramatic play.
Our day has a routine which can be flexible, depending on the weather, visitors and interests. Group times can include music and movement, storytelling, sharing books and general discussions to recall, plan and share.
