Welcome

C&K Wilston Community Childcare Centre is housed in a traditional Queensland style building and accommodates children between the ages of 6 weeks to 5 years. Our homelike environment ensures children feel safe, secure and supported while in the care of our qualified educators. Our educators are dedicated to providing high quality care to the children and families at the service.

We offer a unique environment with large natural play spaces and we encourage the care of our natural world through modelling and teaching responsibility and sustainability practices. Educators promote sustainable initiatives by recycling, water conservation through the use of water tanks, worm farm, green wall and bush tucker gardens to connect children and families to the environment.

C&K Wilston embraces our early childhood curriculum approach Listening & Learning Together: The C&K Curriculum Approach. Our emphasis is encouraging children to express their own ideas and understandings through play. During play your child will experience many opportunities to explore, solve problems, develop friendships, imagine, use their creativity and extend their capabilities in language, literacy, numeracy, arts and sciences.

Our kindergarten room offers a government approved kindergarten program run by a fully qualified and trained teacher.

Child-Led Learning

No two days are the same at C&K Wilston. Our teaching team tailor each day’s learning taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and time spent discovering the natural environment outdoors.

Community Spirit

Community spirit is important to us at C&K Wilston. We foster our strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us.

Birth to Three Approach

At C&K we are exploring new approaches for the educators that care for and educate our littlest people at C&K childcare centres. The Birth to Three approach, which we have developed, is all about being in the moment with your child. Our philosophy for this age group is to “slow down” and to slow down some more to allow children the time to learn and discover at their own pace. We are focused on spending one-on-one time with babies and toddlers and developing deep and trusting relationships with each individual child.

C&K has developed a Infant and Toddler approach which informs the way we care for and educate our babies and toddlers. Our philosophy for this age is to “slow down” and be in the moment with your child as they learn and explore the world. We focus on developing a deep and trusting relationship with each child.

All C&K childcare centres feature the quality C&K kindergarten program. Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children who are turning 4 by June 30 in the year before they attend school. C&K’s kindy programs are guided by University qualified teachers and support children’s curiosity, creativity, problem solving, resilience and real-world knowledge and skills.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, learning is a collaborative process between teachers, children and parents. The physical indoor and outdoor environment also plays a part. At C&K we believe children are competent and capable learners, and approach our education program with this in mind.

News

C&K Wilston Community Childcare Centre wishes to thank the Queensland Government for making us a recipient of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund Grant. These funds have allowed us to upgrade our playground spaces to make it sustainable so we can educate children on caring for our natural environment.
