Welcome
Welcome to C&K Bluewater Community Kindergarten.
We offer quality education and care for children aged in the year before they attend Prep. We offer a play based program where your child will learn and develop many skills and concepts while developing meaningful relationships with their peers, educators and the world around them.
We are located on the Bluewater State School site, in a lovely bushland setting.
We offer indoor and outdoor environments that are beautiful and natural with many opportunities for learning.
Our kindergarten operates with one full time director/teacher and one assistant educator. Michelle is our director/teacher and has a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and a Cert IV in training and assessment. She has 22 years experience in the early childhood field. Tracy is our assistant educator who is currently studying her Diploma of Early Childhood education and care. She has been with our service for a number of years firstly as an inclusion support assistant and now as the full-time co-educator.
Great Start to Kindergarten Pre-kindy Program
C&K has been successful in securing funding from the Queensland Department of Education for the Great Start to Kindergarten Pre-kindy Program. This program provides funding for community kindergartens selected by the Department to offer no-cost or low-cost three-year-old programs in terms 3 and 4 in 2022.
To be eligible for the funding, children need to have turned three by 30 June 2022.
C&K Bluewater Community Kindergarten is offering no-cost Pre-kindy in a kindergarten program for three-year-olds in terms 3 and 4, 2022.
Please contact the National Translating and Interpreting Service to support families with enrolments, inclusion, and medical needs forms. This service provides clarity to help remove language barriers that impact the child's needs.
Pre-kindy in a kindergarten program
Three-year-old children will attend the existing high-quality community kindergarten program alongside four-year-olds, which will complement and extend children's learning at home. It also provides learning opportunities that are not always readily available in a home context – including building relationships with teachers and learning to cooperate with peers in a group environment.
Attending this program in terms 3 and 4, 2022 will provide children with opportunities to learn alongside older children and provide an individualised and developmentally appropriate approach.
Program operating hours:
- Monday, Tuesday, and alternate Wednesdays, 8:22am - 2:30pm
- Thursday, Friday, and alternate Wednesdays, 8:22am - 2:30pm
Child-Led Learning
No two days are the same at C&K Bluewater. Our teaching team tailors each day’s learning, taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious and natural environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and we allocate plenty of time for outdoor play and discovery. You can read more about our philosphy here.
Community Spirit
Community spirit is important to us at C&K Bluewater. We foster strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us and taking the children on excursions out into the local community.
Our team
Michelle Cahill – full time director/teacher
I have a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and have been teaching for 25 years. I also have a Certificate IV in training and assessment (of adults). I have worked in a variety of settings such as long day care, preschool and school. I trained in Sydney and lived there for most of my life. I moved to Townsville 7 years ago and have enjoyed the slower pace and the quieter lifestyle. The best part of my wonderful job is seeing the children develop and grow over the time that I spend with them.
Tracy Kingdon – full time co educator
I have worked as a co educator for just over a year. For 3 years prior I supported the Kindergarten as an inclusion support assistant. I have a Certificate III in Education support and am currently studying a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. I have lived in Townsville for 7 years. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going on adventures and making memories.
Aleesha MacDonald – clerical assistant
I have been working as the clerical assistant for 6 years. I have lived in Townsville my whole life and worked in the banking industry for 13 years. I then moved onto Ergon energy until finally moving into administration. I enjoy spending time with my family, swimming, bike riding, fishing and the beach.
