Welcome

C&K Flagstone Kindergarten is co-located on the grounds of the Flagstone State School, in Flagstone's purpose built education precinct.

The kindergarten's Director, Senior Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) and Educational Leader, Sue Taylor, received the award for Excellence and Innovation in Pedagogy and Practice at the 2017 C&K Excellence & Innovation Awards at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Central to Sue's success in winning this award was the unwavering commitment of Sue and her team to realising the potential of all children, building community capacity and working alongside parents and community to develop resources as and when required. The teaching team at C&K Flagstone Kindergarten is highly regarded within the early childhood education community generally and within C&K as leaders in the field.

The Kindergarten program at C&K Flagstone is highly differentiated - based on the local Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) data collected every three years.

The team of educators at C&K Flagstone Kindergarten brings a genuine passion for working with children, families and the wider community as well as a keen and critically reflective way of working in the early childhood setting. Interactions and professional conversations are genuine and authentic and show great respect for the rights, voices and agency of all stakeholders. Children come first.

Child-Led Learning

No two days are the same at C&K Flagstone. Our teaching team tailors each day’s learning, taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious and natural environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and we allocate plenty of time for outdoor play and discovery.

Community Spirit

Community spirit is important to us at C&K Flagstone. We foster strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us and taking the children on excursions out into the local community.

Don’t miss out on a place, enrol your child today. You can:

1. Enrol now - Please call or email us. You may be able to enrol immediately if a place is available. If a place is not available, we will place your child on a waiting list.

2. Enrol later  Please click the “Enrol online” button above and fill out the form. You will be added to a queue and contacted as soon as a suitable place is available. Places are usually offered for the following year, between May and July the year before.

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. When places are available, 3-year old children can attend.

C&K's kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children to be curious, capable, and collaborative learners.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, for us learning is partnership between teachers, children, parents, and communities.

All C&K centres feature Listening and Learning Together: The C&K Curriculum Approach. The learning outcomes in our approach align with both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

Our approach continues the longstanding traditions and philosophical commitments of C&K to our children, families and communities. Read more about the history of C&K.

We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations, nurture healthy minds and bodies, as children explore, experiment, play and learn.

Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child's learning journey is shared with you via conversations with your child's educators, through written documentation in your centre and through StoryPark (an app and website).

How does C&K decide fees?

As a not-for-profit organisation, C&K reinvests any surplus back into our services and programs to better achieve outcomes for all children and communities.

We aim to keep fees affordable for families and has developed a fee system to maximise family access to available subsidies. Read more about C&K's fee policies.
