Gaythorne Community Kindergarten offers a Kindergarten and Pre Kindy program for children aged between 2 and 5 years. Before Hours Care and After Hours Care is available Monday-Friday during school terms.

You will find Gaythorne Community Kindergarten nestled in a quiet, tree-lined pocket of Gaythorne. Since 1988, our community-based, not for profit kindy has been nurturing children’s potential through play. Our motto, “play, learn, explore”, makes the most of children’s innate sense of curiosity and encourages their individual interests. Experienced and caring staff make sure children feel welcomed, supported and valued.

Look closer at this community kindergarten and you will find something that is truly unique. In addition to their kindergarten program, you will find a specific program for children 2-4 years, in their Pre Kindy room.

Gaythorne Community Kindergarten is currently taking applications for 2021 for Kindergarten and Pre Kindy. You can however, put your child's name on the Waitlist from birth. 

To put your child's name on the Waitlist, please fill out the Waiting List Application Form and return it to the Centre.

Kindergarten

Our Kindergarten program operates from 8.30am to 2.30pm Monday to Friday across the school term. We offer a 5 day fortnight program for children that turn 4 by the 30th of June in the year they attend.

Group A – Monday, Tuesday, alternating Wednesday
Group B – alternating Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Pre Kindy

The Pre Kindy room offers a unique service to families. This room accommodates children aged 2 to 5 years and is a great way for your child to have fun, make friends and learn through play in a safe, caring and stimulating environment. Children from our Kindergarten room are welcome to attend the Pre Kindy room on days they are not attending Kindergarten.

Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 2.30pm, every week from the first day of the Queensland school term in January to the last day of the school term in December (excluding public holidays). The centre is closed for 6 weeks over the December/January school holidays.

Before and After Care

Before and After Care is available to all children who attend Kindergarten and Pre Kindy at Gaythorne Community Kindergarten. Both programs are offered Monday to Friday during school terms.

Before Hours Care – 7.30am to 8.30am
After Hours Care – 2.30pm to 4.30pm

School Holidays

School Holidays are a bit different at Gaythorne Community Kindergarten. Only our Pre Kindy room is in operation 8.30am to 2.30pm but we allow or Pre Kindy families to sell their days (if they wish) to our Kindergarten families, if they wish to have care for their children over the school holidays.

This only applies to the 6 weeks of school holidays in the middle of the year. The entire centre is closed for the 6 weeks December/January school holidays.

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. When places are available, 3-year old children can attend.

C&K's kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children to be curious, capable, and collaborative learners.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, for us learning is partnership between teachers, children, parents, and communities. 

Our curriculum approach, Listening and Learning Together, aligns with both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations, nurture healthy minds and bodies, as children explore, experiment, play and learn.

Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child's learning journey is shared with you via conversations with your child's educators and through written documentation in your centre, and in some centres through StoryPark (an app and website).

Gaythorne's daily fees are:

Kindergarten $36.00 per day (with QKFS Funding)
                      $7.00 per day (HCC and DVA Card Holders)
                      $65.00 per day (without QKFS Funding)

Pre Kindy 2 years                       $51.50 per day
                 3-5 years                   $48.00 per day
                 HCC Card Holder      $42.00 per day
