Kindergarten program details
At Gaythorne Community Kindergarten, we have two kindy groups to choose from. All groups ensure children receive the same number of hours of education across the year. The groups have a maximum of 22 children and are led by an experienced and qualified early childhood teacher. We operate during QLD school terms and are closed for school holidays, public holidays and some pupil free days.
- Group 1A: Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays, 8:30am to 2:30pm
- Group 1B: Thursday, Friday and alternate Wednesdays, 8:30am to 2:30pm
We also offer a pre-kindy program for younger children.
About our kindy
Gaythorne Community Kindergarten offers a Kindy and Pre Kindy program for children aged between 2 and 5 years. Before Hours Care and After Hours Care is also available Monday and Friday with Vacation Care for our Kindy children. GCK operates for 48 weeks of the year, closed for 4 weeks over the December/January holidays.
You will find Gaythorne Community Kindergarten nestled in a quiet, tree-lined pocket of Gaythorne. Since 1988 our community based, not for profit kindy has been nurturing children's potential through play. Our motto, Play, Learn, & Explore makes the most of children's innate sense of curiosity and encourages their individual interests. Experienced and caring staff make sure children feel welcomed, supported and valued.
Look closer at this community kindergarten and you will find something that is truly unique. In addition to our Kindy programme, you will find a specific programme for children from 2 years, in our Pre Kindy room.
C&K Affiliated Centre
As an affiliated centre of C&K, Gaythorne kindy receives support from C&K as the Central Governing Body but operates as an independent incorporated association, managed by a volunteer management committee. Centres affiliated with C&K receive comprehensive support in governance including managing kindergarten and inclusion funding, training for committees and educators, advice, and support regarding inclusion, use of the C&K brand, curriculum approach and resource materials.
Child-Led Learning
No two days are the same at Gaythorne kindy. Our teaching team tailor each day’s learning taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and time spent discovering the natural environment outdoors.
Community Spirit
Community spirit is important to us at Gaythorne kindy. We foster our strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent input and involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten and programming decisions. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us.
