Kindergarten program details
At Mareeba Community Kindergarten, we have two kindy groups to choose from. All groups ensure children receive the same number of hours of education across the year. The groups have a maximum of 22 children and are led by an experienced and qualified early childhood teacher. We operate during QLD school terms and are closed for school holidays, public holidays and some pupil free days.
- Group 1A: Monday and Tuesdays, 8:00am to 3:30pm
- Group 1B: Thursday, Friday and alternate Wednesdays, 8:35am to 2:45pm
Free Pre-kindy Program
Mareeba Community Kindergarten offers a subsidised pre-kindy program for three-year-olds in terms 3 and 4, 2024. To be eligible for this program, children need to have turned three by 30 June 2024.
Your three-year-old child can attend Mareeba kindy's high-quality community kindergarten program alongside four-year-olds. Attending kindergarten provides learning opportunities for your child in a safe and nurturing environment, including building relationships with teachers and growing their confidence and social skills to engage with other children.

About our kindy
Welcome to Mareeba Community Kindergarten. We are committed to the importance of a quality early childhood education that engages each individual child, to strive to achieve their full potential by stimulating their learning abilities through: a strong sense of identity, by connecting and contributing to their world, developing a strong sense of wellbeing, being confident and involved learners and becoming effective communicators. It is very important that children grow in a warm friendly community where each child is able to develop at their own rate and where opportunities are created in a free and flexible and natural learning environment. In order to achieve this, we provide secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships, through regular communication with each child and their families where we respect each family's cultural diversity. We are committed to equity and believe that each child can succeed and achieve in learning through play. Children will be able to interact with other children and adults and will learn through exploration, discovery and play.
We believe that it is important for each child to become an enthusiastic learner. This means encouraging children to become active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas and to think and express their own thoughts. Our goal is to help children to become independent, self-confident and inquisitive learners. We're developing good habits and attitudes, particularly a positive sense of themselves and hopefully a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.
Mareeba Community Kindergarten acknowledges and pays our respects to the traditional custodians of the land, the Muluridji people on whose land and our C&K Kindergarten is placed. We acknowledge and pay our respects to all Elders past and present.
C&K Affiliated Centre
As an affiliated centre of C&K, Mareeba kindy receives support from C&K as the Central Governing Body but operates as an independent incorporated association, managed by a volunteer management committee. Centres affiliated with C&K receive comprehensive support in governance including managing kindergarten and inclusion funding, training for committees and educators, advice, and support regarding inclusion, use of the C&K brand, curriculum approach and resource materials.
Child-Led Learning
No two days are the same at Mareeba kindy. Our teaching team tailor each day’s learning taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and time spent discovering the natural environment outdoors.
Community Spirit
Community spirit is important to us at Mareeba kindy. We foster our strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent input and involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten and programming decisions. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us.
