Welcome

Welcome to C&K Moranbah Community Kindergarten.

C&K Moranbah Community Kindergarten has been a proud member of the community for 60 years. Our nature based service works closely with the wider community to support farmers and the mental health of children. Reducing our carbon footprint is a high priority for all staff and CAG members of our service. This is evident is our continued upgrade of sustainable practice and spaces within our kindergarten yard.

We focus on teaching children to reduce, reuse and recycle. The addition of a yarning circle, fire pit, gardens, green house, water tanks and much more have allowed us to meet these goals. Nature play is a key component of our daily play and allows our children to explore their limits in a safe engaging environment

We are one of the largest C&K kindergarten's in Queensland, boasting a 132 places in total. We have three units each with two alternative groups that operate a five day fortnight program.

We, at C&K Moranbah Community Kindergarten believe the purpose of an early childhood educational program is to have the wellbeing and holistic development of children as the core motivating force of all that we do. This means that our programme grows out of experiences which are meaningful and relevant for children to promote their physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth, while expressing their specific interests, needs and abilities with respect for their cultural background.

In 2015 our service received four meeting exception and three exceeding expectations in the assessment and rating process. These results are a credit to the hard work and passion of our amazing educators

Child-Led Learning

No two days are the same at C&K Moranbah. Our teaching team tailors each day’s learning, taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious and natural environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and we allocate plenty of time for outdoor play and discovery.

Community Spirit

Community spirit is important to us at C&K Moranbah. We foster strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us and taking the children on excursions out into the local community.

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. When places are available, 3-year old children may be able to attend.

C&K's kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children to be curious, capable, and collaborative learners.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, for us learning is partnership between teachers, children, parents, and communities.

Our curriculum approach, Listening and Learning Together, aligns with both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

It continues the longstanding traditions and philosophical commitments of C&K to our children, families and communities. Read more about the history of C&K.

We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations, nurture healthy minds and bodies, as children explore, experiment, play and learn.

Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child's learning journey is shared with you via conversations with your child's educators and through written documentation in your centre, and in some centres through StoryPark (an app and website).

Events

Recently, C&K Moranbah celebrated the Moranbah Hero May Day Fair. Parents made play dough and lucky dips that were for sale. The children painted and drew pictures of their heroes to create our bunting for the stall. We also did face painting, here are some photos from the fantastic day we had!

The director Rebecca Norman and one of their lead educators, Crystal Cairns participated in McHappy Day in Moranbah on the 12th of November - such a fun day!

How does C&K decide fees?

As a not-for-profit organisation, C&K reinvests any surplus back into our services and programs to better achieve outcomes for all children and communities.

We aim to keep fees affordable for families and has developed a fee system to maximise family access to available subsidies. Read more about C&K's fee policies.
