Welcome

Welcome to C&K Redlands Community Kindergarten. We offer quality education and care for children aged in the year before they attend Prep. We are a dedicated kindergarten so your child will take part in a child-orientated play based program with other children their age.

Our kindergarten operates on a five-day fortnight. We are located opposite Cleveland State School on Queen Street, Cleveland. Our centre has stimulating and natural indoor and outdoor environments that offer a range of opportunities for children to learn through play.

Our program is co-constructed by the children and staff which is reflective of Building Waterfalls and the Early Years Learning Framework. Our child-initiated curriculum recognises the value and richness of play as a catalyst for children’s learning. Our program provides opportunities for individuals to be successful learners. Routines are flexible, age appropriate and child initiated. Children’s individual learning is taken into consideration during programming. When children are immersed in a project, the staff respectfully acknowledge this by being flexible with time constraints. Our environment remains fairly constant during the year, establishing a sense of control and understanding of where things go and can be found. The children’s interests and ideas will instigate change where necessary. Our centre philosophy reflects current understandings of the importance of early childhood and value of play.

We truly believe that real life experiences give children true understandings.

All members of our teaching team bring a wealth of experience and knowledge and we are so fortunate to have such a dedicated team at C&K Redlands Community Kindergarten.

Centre Philosophy

C&K Redlands Community Kindergarten believes that a partnership with families, within a warm, naturally aesthetic and supportive play based learning environment, which honours and respects the rights and individuality of children, staff and families is best for lifelong learning.

Child-Led Learning

No two days are the same at C&K Redlands Community Kindergarten. Our teaching team tailor each day’s learning taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and time spent discovering the natural environment outdoors.

Community Spirit

Community spirit is important to us at C&K Redlands Community Kindergarten. We foster our strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us.

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. When places are available, 3-year old children may be able to attend.

C&K's kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children to be curious, capable, and collaborative learners.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, for us learning is partnership between teachers, children, parents, and communities.

Our curriculum approach, Listening and Learning Together, aligns with both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

It continues the longstanding traditions and philosophical commitments of C&K to our children, families and communities. Read more about the history of C&K.

We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations, nurture healthy minds and bodies, as children explore, experiment, play and learn.

Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child's learning journey is shared with you via conversations with your child's educators and through written documentation in your centre, and in some centres through StoryPark (an app and website).

Testimonials

"Hello, I wanted to write and let you know how happy A is and how easily he has settled in to his 2B Green Group.  During pre Kindy last year, he has always had a lovely time, but when I collected him at pick up time he would never really want to tell me about his day.  But, last Thursday when I collected him from Redlands C&K, he was full of stories of what he had done in his day.  He had no tears and couldn't wait to go back on Friday.  The teachers have been amazing and really made the atmosphere in the room calm yet interesting and welcoming.  From the moment I came to the orientation evening at the end of last year I had a great feeling about this Kindy. I feel like this is where A is meant to do his Kindy year, and we are so pleased that we have found you!  Thank you!"

"This year has been our first at a C&K centre. C has done amazingly while being at kindy this year. He has grown in leaps and bounds and it's all due to the amazing Redlands centre. All the teaching staff are fantastic - Kirsten though is exceptional. Kirsten does an amazing job with all the children and has made their early learning a loving, safe, fun and educational one! We thank you so much for moulding C into the little man he is today! We look forward to having you in the years to come with our younger children."

"Jocie has shown each and every day, in every opportunity that she has the best interests of each child in her care at heart. She dutifully communicates with parents daily on many aspects of their child's learning, and emotional and cultural needs. She has gone above and beyond to accommodate specific family needs, cultures and religious differences and needs and has made all feel included, accepted and deeply respected. The effort she puts into each learning experience for the children shows her true desire to see each child benefit fully from each learning opportunity and expand their knowledge in the best individual way they learn.  It has been a true treasure watching her expand the minds of the children and engage with them in their mental and emotional development. Our child has blossomed in every way under Jocie's thoughtful and deliberate guidance."

"My 2 both have gone to C&K Redlands at Cleveland and they have been soooo good! The curriculum they follow has been the perfect mix to allow their little minds to explore, learn and grow!  My 2 have both been absolutely ready for Prep and adapted to the transition of school so easily."

"I need to say this...
I need to give a massive shout out to Redlands C&K kindergarten in Cleveland! My daughter went there last year and was nurtured and learned so much during her time with them. Well today we were invited back for a catch up and play date at the kindergarten. It was so lovely seeing all the kids in their school uniforms and hearing how they are all going at school. Mrs Balcombe and Mrs Manion made all the children and parents feel so welcome and like they really were missed. What a beautiful sense of community spirit. It wasn’t a case of we’ve been through the year, paid our fees and bye bye. It was so nice that the teachers went out of their way in their own time to welcome us back fo a catch up. I am so very glad I made the decision to take my daughter there last year and I can’t recommend them enough!! What a Beautiful centre and amazing staff, I hope they know how appreciated they are."

Am I eligible for the Kindy Plus or Family Tax Benefit subsidy?

Subsidies are funded by the Queensland and Australian governments.  All children of eligible age (turning at least 4 by June 30 in the year they attend kindy) are eligible for a subsidy of $1,500 per year.

Please visit the Kindy savings website and select sessional kindy for Step 1 to check your eligibility for the Kindy Plus and Family Tax Benefit subsidy.

You will need to show proof of your eligibility when you enrol, which will differ depending on the subsidy you are eligible for.

What if I want my 3 year old to go to kindergarten?

Priority is given to eligible-aged children but if there are places available, we are happy to have 3 year old children at kindy and attend for 2 years.  The subsidies do not apply for 3 year old children, and the non-eligible enrolment kindergarten fee will apply.  Please contact us on 07 3821 0642 for more information on fees for 3 year olds and to discuss your child and your family’s situation.

I have more questions.  Who can I talk to?

As a not-for-profit, we aim to keep fees affordable for families and have developed a fee system to maximise family access to available subsidies.  Please visit our Kindergarten Fees Frequently Asked Questions page for more information.  You can also read more about C&K’s fee policy here
