Welcome to C&K Salisbury Community Childcare Centre.

Our specific intention is to aim to give every child the best start in life possible through reciprocal and respectful relationships in a centre that feels like a home away from home that is fun, unique and committed to nurturing the development of the whole child.

The service is licensed for 48 places per day for children aged 6 weeks to school aged. The licence capacity translates as 2 staff to 8 babies aged 6 weeks to 2.5 years, 2 staff to 12 children aged 2 years to 3 years and 2 staff members to 24 children aged 3.5 years to school age. We show respect for children and their families through recognising that families are the child’s first and most influential teachers and we will endeavour to support families as they undertake this important role. Management will ensure there is continuity of care and implement effective forms of communication. A thorough orientation process will occur for new families starting at our centre to ensure families become familiar with our centre and their child’s educators. We pride ourselves on our flexibility in supporting and creating opportunities for siblings to spend time together throughout the course of the day.

C&K Salisbury Community Childcare Centre first opened its doors on 10 September 1992.  We are a three room, community based, not for profit centre.

Our kindergarten offers a Government Approved Kindergarten Program run by a fully qualified and trained teacher. Children are required to attend a minimum of two days to be eligible for funding.

Our qualified, long term staff are dedicated to providing high quality care to the children at the service. C&K Salisbury implements our own curriculum framework Listening and Learning Together: C&K Curriculum Approach in all our rooms.

Here at C&K Salisbury, we are very proud of our large, natural outdoor playground. The large trees offer lots of natural shade. We also have a dedicated art room where children are free to access to create artwork of their choice.

Child-Led Learning 

No two days are the same at C&K Salisbury Childcare Centre. Our teaching team tailor each day’s learning taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and time spent discovering the natural environment outdoors.

Community Spirit 

Community spirit is important to us at C&K Salisbury Childcare Centre. We foster our strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us. 

Birth to Three Approach

At C&K we are exploring new approaches for the educators that care for and educate our littlest people at C&K childcare centres. The Birth to Three approach, which we have developed, is all about being in the moment with your child. Our philosophy for this age group is to “slow down” and to slow down some more to allow children the time to learn and discover at their own pace. We are focused on spending one-on-one time with babies and toddlers and developing deep and trusting relationships with each individual child.

C&K has developed a Infant and Toddler approach which informs the way we care for and educate our babies and toddlers. Our philosophy for this age is to “slow down” and be in the moment with your child as they learn and explore the world. We focus on developing a deep and trusting relationship with each child.

All C&K childcare centres feature the quality C&K kindergarten program. Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children who are turning 4 by June 30 in the year before they attend school. C&K’s kindy programs are guided by University qualified teachers and support children’s curiosity, creativity, problem solving, resilience and real-world knowledge and skills.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, learning is a collaborative process between teachers, children and parents. The physical indoor and outdoor environment also plays a part. At C&K we believe children are competent and capable learners, and approach our education program with this in mind.

How can flexible bookings help?

C&K offers flexible booking options, designed to help you maximise your Child Care Subsidy and access to early childhood education and care while minimising family's out-of-pocket costs. Our 9 and 10 hour sessions work in with your schedule and start once your child is signed in, not a set start and finish time.

How does C&K decide fees?

As a not-for-profit organisation, C&K reinvests any surplus back into our centres and programs to better achieve outcomes for all children and communities.
