Kilkivan Kindergarten

3.5 years - 5 years

Kilkivan Kindergarten

Welcome to Kilkivan Kindergarten. We are a small rural kindy in a wonderful community about half an hour west of Gympie. Our kindy is supported by a strong, active group of families and community members who believe in the value of early years education and have stuck with and supported us through the years.

Our kindy is located in a character-filled, warm and welcoming building, surrounded by an exciting and inviting playground. Our staff and management committee are friendly and committed.

We believe that all children have a right to quality early education that is accessible, inclusive and respectful. Children’s learning should be fun and exciting, with time to think, experiment, wonder, and take safe risks and make mistakes. We foster a sense of belonging and value within the local and global community. As their child’s first and best educators, families have a right to expect quality education to continue as their child attends kindy and to be valued, included and involved in that process. Our kindy is a safe, non-judgmental, caring and welcoming environment where parents and children feel happy to come. Staff model the values and attitudes they wish to see reflected in the children, and approach teaching and learning with a sense of wonder and curiosity. At Kilkivan Kindergarten, we offer a 5 day fortnight kindergarten program.

Welcome to Karalee Community Kindergarten. Karalee Community Kindergarten began in 1992, working out of the Community Hall next door as families in the community worked together to get our kindy its own home. In March 1998, we moved into our current building and have spent the following years adding to our beautiful kindergarten.

Our kindy believes strongly in the uniqueness of each family and each child. We encourage parents to work together with teachers to ensure that the kindergarten program provides opportunities for children to extend their existing knowledge and skills and develop attributes such as perseverance, resilience and curiosity that are critical to learning.

Children are encouraged to be active participants in our program. We value their ideas and enable them to take ownership of their learning. We interact purposely with the children, offering support and guidance when required. We also aim to help children to expand their thinking, challenge themselves and extend their interests by introducing them to other interests and encouraging them to explore other alternatives and possibilities. Children will have the opportunity to make choices, develop their own ideas and work at their own pace. Teachers will be responsive to their ideas and initiatives, allowing time and space for exploration and research. They will establish warm and affectionate bonds and attachments with children, by being available, accessible and approachable.

At Karalee Community Kindergarten, we offer a 5 day fortnight kindergarten program.
