Welcome to C&K Canungra Community Kindergarten.

Situated in the picturesque Canungra township, our beautiful kindergarten is nestled in the tranquil mountains of the Gold Coast Hinterland.

Having opened in 2012, C&K Canungra was awarded an Exceeding National Quality Rating, and the staff are committed to ensuring they continually provide quality programs that cater for all children.
In 2014, the kindergarten was gifted the Yugambeh name Yulburru Jarjems (Happy Children) from the local Wangerriburra people. We are very proud of this name and our beautiful mural by local Aboriginal Artist Derek Fogarty, serves as a reminder of our connections to Country.
At C&K Canungra, we offer a play-based program, which uses the Building Waterfalls curriculum as its guiding document. We have a combined inside/outside program during the morning, and a rolling morning tea. This means that the children are able to eat when they are hungry, and they have greater flexibility in making choices for their own play and activities, which ultimately drives all aspects of our programming.
We actively encourage parental participation in our program, an through our open door policy, parents are welcome at any time.
Excursions and extra-curricular activities are viewed as an extension to our program, and we actively participate in these. To date we have had puppet shows, community excursions, visits from our local police, Wildlife Ranger Shows, and have participated in the Connect with Your Creek Week activities at Canungra State School.
We actively support the children's transition to school through our school library borrowing program, and our Prep visits in term 4 where we meet and work with the Prep teachers.

Child-Led Learning

No two days are the same at C&K Canungra. Our teaching team tailors each day’s learning, taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious and natural environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and we allocate plenty of time for outdoor play and discovery.

Community Spirit

Community spirit is important to us at C&K Canungra. We foster strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us and taking the children on excursions out into the local community.

Don’t miss out on a place, enrol your child today. You can:

1. Enrol now - Please call or email us. You may be able to enrol immediately if a place is available. If a place is not available, we will place your child on a waiting list.

2. Enrol later  Please click the “Enrol online” button above and fill out the form. You will be added to a queue and contacted as soon as a suitable place is available. Places are usually offered for the following year, between May and July the year before.

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. When places are available, 3-year old children can attend.

C&K's kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children to be curious, capable, and collaborative learners.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, for us learning is partnership between teachers, children, parents, and communities.

All C&K centres feature Listening and Learning Together: The C&K Curriculum Approach. The learning outcomes in our approach align with both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

Our approach continues the longstanding traditions and philosophical commitments of C&K to our children, families and communities. Read more about the history of C&K.

We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations, nurture healthy minds and bodies, as children explore, experiment, play and learn.

Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child's learning journey is shared with you via conversations with your child's educators, through written documentation in your centre and through StoryPark (an app and website).

How does C&K decide fees?

As a not-for-profit organisation, C&K reinvests any surplus back into our services and programs to better achieve outcomes for all children and communities.

We aim to keep fees affordable for families and has developed a fee system to maximise family access to available subsidies. Read more about C&K's fee policies.
