C&K Kin Kora Community Kindergarten

Operating Hours

At C&K Kin Kora Community Kindergarten, we have two models of delivery for families to choose from. Both programs ensure children receive the same number of hours of education across the year.  We operate during QLD school terms and are closed for school holidays, public holidays and some pupil free days.

  • Group 1A: Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays, 8:30am to 2:38pm
  • Group 1B: Thursday, Friday and alternate Wednesdays, 8:30am to 2:38pm

The groups comprise a maximum of 22 children and are supported by an experienced and qualified teacher and educator.

Location

C&K Kin Kora Community Kindergarten is located in Kin Kora, Gladstone.  The kindergarten is conveniently located with ample parking off Sun Valley Road, across the road from Sun Valley Marketplace and next door to Kin Kora State School.

Welcome

Welcome to C&K Kin Kora Community Kindergarten, where your child will feel safe, make friends and belong.  Our teachers and educators focus on nurturing your child's curiosity, building their resilience and developing their confidence - all through the joy of learning through play.

Child-Led Learning

No two days are the same at C&K Kin Kora. Our teaching team tailors each day’s learning, taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious and natural environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and we allocate plenty of time for outdoor play and discovery.

Community Spirit

Community spirit is important to us at C&K Kin Kora. We foster strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us and taking the children on excursions out into the local community.

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. When places are available, 3-year old children may be able to attend.

C&K's kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children to be curious, capable, and collaborative learners.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, for us learning is partnership between teachers, children, parents, and communities.

Our curriculum approach, Listening and Learning Together, aligns with both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

It continues the longstanding traditions and philosophical commitments of C&K to our children, families and communities. Read more about the history of C&K.

We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations, nurture healthy minds and bodies, as children explore, experiment, play and learn.

Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child's learning journey is shared with you via conversations with your child's educators and through written documentation in your centre, and in some centres through StoryPark (an app and website).

News

C&K Kin Kora we had a visit from the local police to talk about Road Safety.  Constable Anne Jessop of the Gladstone police came and talked about the importance of being safe in the car and on the road.  We learnt that we must hold an adult’s hand, we need to walk not run across the road and we need to look both ways to make sure it is safe before crossing the road.

Our children and parents also got behind the week, writing their own safety messages to share.  We learnt that the police are our friends and are here to help.

Am I eligible for the Kindy Plus or Family Tax Benefit subsidy?

Subsidies are funded by the Queensland and Australian governments.  All children of eligible age (turning at least 4 by June 30 in the year they attend kindy) are eligible for a subsidy of $1,500 per year.

Please visit the Kindy savings website and select sessional kindy for Step 1 to check your eligibility for the Kindy Plus and Family Tax Benefit subsidy.

You will need to show proof of your eligibility when you enrol, which will differ depending on the subsidy you are eligible for.

What if I want my 3 year old to go to kindergarten?

Priority is given to eligible-aged children but if there are places available, we are happy to have 3 year old children at kindy and attend for 2 years.  The subsidies do not apply for 3 year old children, and the non-eligible enrolment kindergarten fee will apply.  Please contact us on 07 4978 7712 for more information on fees for 3 year olds and to discuss your child and your family’s situation.

I have more questions.  Who can I talk to?

As a not-for-profit, we aim to keep fees affordable for families and have developed a fee system to maximise family access to available subsidies.  Please visit our Kindergarten Fees Frequently Asked Questions page for more information.  You can also read more about C&K’s fee policy here
