Welcome to C&K QUT Gardens Point

At C&K QUT Gardens Point Community Childcare Centre, we welcome children from 0 to 5 years old and provide care and early learning five days a week from 7:00am to 6:00pm.

C&K QUT Gardens Point Community Childcare Centre offers a safe, warm and flexible education and care environment. The professional early childhood educators, assistants and the director ensure your child receives the best care and educational program so you can feel comfortable and confident in your choice.

At C&K Gardens Point we deliver the four essential elements needed for optimal, emotional, physical, social and intellectual growth and development in early childhood education and care:

  • A nurturing, stimulating, caring and fun-filled learning environment
  • Qualified teachers and early childhood educators
  • Play based learning
  • The involvement of parents in their child’s learning

Child-Led Learning

No two days are the same at C&K QUT Gardens Point. Our teaching team tailor each day’s learning taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, literature and visual arts and time spent discovering the natural environment outdoors.

Community Spirit

Community spirit is important to us at C&K QUT Gardens Point. We foster our strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us.

C&K has developed a Infant and Toddler approach which informs the way we care for and educate our babies and toddlers. Our philosophy for this age is to “slow down” and be in the moment with your child as they learn and explore the world. We focus on developing a deep and trusting relationship with each child.

All C&K childcare centres feature the quality C&K kindergarten program. Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children who are turning 4 by June 30 in the year before they attend school. C&K’s kindy programs are guided by University qualified teachers and support children’s curiosity, creativity, problem solving, resilience and real-world knowledge and skills.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, learning is a collaborative process between teachers, children and parents. The physical indoor and outdoor environment also plays a part. At C&K we believe children are competent and capable learners, and approach our education program with this in mind.

Events

C&K QUT Gardens Point Community Childcare Centre visit the Botanical Gardens as our nature space twice a week, Mondays and Fridays, with the Kindy group.

As an extension to our curriculum we have recently introduced a nature play program for the Kindergarten children to access the Botanical Gardens on a regular basis. This is a beautiful, natural garden space within a short walk of the Child Care Centre.  Some of the children attending our centre have a connection with the Botanical Gardens, through previous excursions to the gardens. The children loved engaging with the surrounds and were very excited to be leaving the centre to explore the local community.

Outdoor learning spaces are a feature of Australian learning environments and they offer a vast array of possibilities. These spaces invite open ended interactions, spontaneity, safe-risk taking, exploration, discovery and connection with nature. They foster an appreciation of the natural environment, develop environmental awareness; and provide a platform awareness for ongoing environmental education (Early Years Learning Framework, Learning Environments pgs.15/16).

Our visits to the Botanical Gardens have provided many opportunities for children to further contemplate their relationship with nature and the local environments, beyond the early childhood centre. The visits assist in developing sensitivity towards the natural world through creating a sense of enthusiasm and wonder, while building a consciousness that they too have a role to play in the care and management of the environment.

The benefits for the children in accessing the Botanical Gardens on a regular basis are:

  • to further support their physical, social and emotional development and wellbeing ‘by actively exploring the world around them’,
  • to extend the children’s learning in a natural environment,
  • to connect with their local community and be active participants in the community,
  • to enhance the children’s environmental awareness and develop sensitivity towards the natural world, and
  • to create a ‘sense of wonder’.

Our nature space visits commenced in mid 2016. The parents and children have been enthusiastic about the introduction of these regular nature space explorations.

What subsidies are available?

The Australian Government helps eligible families with the cost of childcare. For more information, please visit Services Australia.

* The Queensland Government also provides subsidies for eligible-aged children, attending a centre delivering a government-approved kindergarten program. For more information on kindergarten subsidies available, please visit C&K’s kindergarten fees page.

How can flexible bookings help?

C&K offers flexible booking options, designed to help eligible families access and maximise the CCS, and minimise out-of-pocket fees. Our 9 and 10 hours sessions work in with your schedule and start once your child is signed in, not a set start and finish time.

I have more questions, who can I talk to?

As a not-for-profit, we aim to keep fees affordable for families and have developed a fee system to maximise family access to available subsidies.  Please visit our Childcare Fees page for more information.  You can also read more about C&K’s fee policy here.
