Welcome to C&K Springwood Community Kindergarten. Our Kindy has proudly supported our community for over 45 years, offering local children early childhood education in a nurturing, supportive environment.

Our high-quality educational program is delivered by two university educated early childhood teachers and assisted by qualified and experienced educators.

Our team are dedicated to the children and families who make up our Kindy community each year and our learning program benefits greatly from the depth of experience and professional expertise that each teacher and educator brings.

Our community

We acknowledge and embed the Indigenous perspectives of the Yugembeh people, the traditional owners of the land our kindergarten sits on.

We create a positive environment where children and families feel welcome and have a sense of value and belonging. We respect parent ideas and practices and welcome collaborative decision making with families.

Our educators honour diversity and the many cultural ways of being, seeing and living. We value and respect each family’s heritage and background. We value equity and inclusion and recognise each child’s diverse ways of learning.

We build successful relationships between families, schools, community agencies and support services to facilitate positive transitions to school for all children.

We believe that…

  • Children are capable and resourceful learners with unique skills, talents and abilities
  • Teachers can encourage children to reach their potential through positive social interactions, responsive teaching practices and by being active contributors in their learning.
  • Active, investigative play is fundamental to children’s learning
  • A collaborative environment encourages children learn to share, collaborate, co-operate and build friendships.
  • We can protect our environment through environmental education and sharing the importance of sustainability by empowering children and families.

Exploring the great outdoors

Our Centre features beautiful natural play spaces and a large, natural playground with plenty of grass to run, sand, rocks and mud for children to play in and shaded areas for quiet play.

Children are encouraged to run, climb and play as they explore our:

  • Veggie garden
  • Shaded sandpit
  • Climbing fort
  • Swing area
  • Digging patch
  • Mud kitchen
  • Amphitheatre
  • Bush setting waiting area.

Enrolments are now open for 2022

Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children in the year before they attend school. When places are available, 3-year old children can attend.

C&K's kindergarten programs are guided by university-qualified teachers and support children to be curious, capable, and collaborative learners.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, for us learning is partnership between teachers, children, parents, and communities.

Our curriculum approach, Listening and Learning Together, aligns with both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

It continues the longstanding traditions and philosophical commitments of C&K to our children, families and communities. Read more about the history of C&K.

We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations, nurture healthy minds and bodies, as children explore, experiment, play and learn.

Learning through play is an integral part of our education program. Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child.

Your child's learning is shared with you via conversations with your child's educators and through written documentation in your centre, and through Kindy Portal (as secure website).
